A REFLECTION OF YOU

Tanya was raised in a single-parent household, where instability was normal and survival came early. While her mother worked—or spent time with yet another new man—Tanya cared for her little sister, Mini.

Then one day, Tanya’s mother left and never returned.

From that moment on, Tanya became more than a sister; she became Mini’s protector, caregiver, and constant companion. Everywhere Tanya went, Mini followed.

Even as a child, people noticed something in Tanya. When she liked a boy, she became deeply attached—obsessive, even. It was a behavior many recognized as familiar. Tanya loved the way her mother did: desperately, fearfully, and without boundaries. As Tanya grew older, she became a mother herself. She attended church, raised her children, and tried to build a life. But some patterns are harder to escape than others.

She met a new man and became pregnant. Their relationship ended early in her pregnancy. Afraid of being alone and desperate for comfort, Tanya made a choice that would cost her everything.

She went to her ex-boyfriend’s home. He did not want her there.

He demanded that she leave immediately, but Tanya refused. What began as a verbal argument quickly turned physical. Tanya screamed that she wanted to stay. He yelled for her to go.

Neighbors heard the chaos and called the police. When officers arrived, Tanya was found alone and unresponsive.

She was airlifted to the hospital with severe injuries. One week later, Tanya died. Her unborn baby died with her. Tanya was only 23 years old.

Her story is not just about one tragic night. It is about cycles. About the patterns we inherit, the trauma we normalize, and the desperate search for love in the wrong places.

Tanya became a reflection of the woman who raised her.

And it cost her her life.
